School Days

  1. Scenes from the Christian elementary school near Chimaltenango.

Top photo: I found Charlie Brown's little red-haired girls at this school. Gosh, is she adorable or what, missing front tooth and all.

Next down: Students at all schools here wear uniforms that they have to buy themselves. It's tradition.

Next down: Charlie Reynolds with Ruth on his left and Karina, her daughter, on his right. Together, they built this private school from scratch.

Next down: Emily, the dentist in the making. That's what she wants to be, and I think she'll get there.

Bottom: That's Karina, the young Guatemalan woman whose idea it was to start this school in the village where her parents grew up. Married with one small child of her own, she's about to get her business degree, which she'll put to use in the school.

  2. Heard the Pacaya volcano erupted last night, the International Airport has closed & evacuation of 1,600 nearby residents....any of this affecting your group?

  3. Praying for your safety with the volcanoes going off. Please let us know if you can how you are.

  4. Gene,
Ed Kordick here from Farm Bureau. Your posts are very interesting -- our three children joined our family by adoption from Guatemala! Thoughts and Prayers!
