Scenes from Monday

  1. It's not a good picture of the pig here, sorry. But, good enough to see how poorly she is. Will she live? Good question. The owner is Israel Sicajaj, a young Guatemalan. He told me, through an interpreter, that he bought this pig a year ago at the local livestock market for 200 quinzales, or about $25. It'll take another year to get her big enough to butcher, Israel said. He also told me he fed her concentrate and maize, but he didn't have any of it around right now. See why I say a little Ivomec would be a good start? There's also a picture here of Israel and his wife and baby, Elizabeth and Fernando. They're just teenagers. The cow in these pictures was a pretty nice looking one, tied by the roadside to graze. Some cute little boys sat nearby.
