These pix show some scenes from around the hillside village of Buena Vista. It's incredibly steep on the hills, and we walked from bottom to top. (This trip will get me in shape for RAGBRAI, fo sho!!) The one picture shows a cornstalk house, the kind we replace when we build here. In fact, this house is due to be demolished and replaced by a cinder block house, you can see the supplies. There's also a picture of 2 of the Schmidt kids, Isaac and Eli, with a hen and chicks. They do a project, Eli's Chickens, for giving away chickens in the village. Another picture shows a white nanny goat in Buena Vista, there are quite a few goats here, all of them undernourished and very thin. And the other picture shows Ryan Johnston, my nephew with the bald head (family trait), and Mark Schmidt at a Guatemalan home in Buena Vista.
